DESCRIPTION

This course provides an advanced overview of Skin Infections in the Long Term Care Setting. By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Explain the unique factors that lead to the prevalence of skin infections in long term care facility clients
  • Describe the normal anatomy of the skin
  • Identify conditions that are common in long term care clients that predispose them to skin infections
  • Identify signs and symptoms of the most common skin infections in long term care facility clients
  • Explain the consequences of skin infections for long term care facility clients, healthcare workers, and the general population
  • Identify resources and tools to help prevent the spread of skin infections in long term care facilities.

Course is approved for 2.0 CE/Contact Hours for Certified Nurse Assistants (CNA) in California. Must pass final quiz with 80% or more; may re-take as often as needed.
