This course provides an overview and instruction on how to assist persons with dementia with their activities of daily living, commonly referred to as ADLs. By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Define activities of daily living, also commonly referred to as ADLs.
  • List six categories or types of ADL’s.
  • Identify challenges that residents with dementia face that can hinder or prevent them from performing ADL’s.
  • Identify strategies to overcome challenges in assisting residents with ADL’s.
  • Learn how to identify and incorporate resident preferences into daily care activities in order to improve outcomes.

This program has been approved for 1.25 CE/Contact Hours by NAB/NCERS—Approval #20250324-1.25-A100256-DL. This course applies to the following professions:

  • Nursing Home Administrators (all states)
  • Residential Care/Assisted Living Administrators (most states)

Learners must pass final quiz with 80% or more; may re-take as often as needed.

States that do not accept NAB/NCERS approval for assisted living include California, District of Columbia, Maryland, Ohio, Rhode Island, and Washington. It is your responsibility to verify that your state board will accept continuing education credits approved by NAB.
