Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE) Administrators in California are required to successfully complete 40 hours of continuing education (CEUs) every 2 years in order to renew their Administrator Certificates. At least 20 of the 40 hours must be completed through live classroom instruction. All CareerSmart classes are pre-approved by the California Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, Administrator Certification Section, (Vendor #2000386-740-2) – see our current course offerings below. We also offer Online courses to supplement this live classroom training. Combine 20 Live CEUs from the below catalog with our Online CEU classes to meet your total 40-hour requirement.

California law requires 8 of the 40 hours be on Dementia and 4 of the hours be on Laws and Regulations Updates. In addition, if it was not included in an Administrator’s initial certification training, renewals must include 1 hour of LGBT Sensitivity.

Certificates of completion for live CEU classes will be delivered electronically within 2 business days unless otherwise noted. Students may attend only a portion of the class in one day; however, they will only receive a certificate for the topic/sessions they attend in full, as evidenced by the sign-in sheet and as observed by the instructor. Even if only attending a portion of the class, students must pay in full for the entire 10-hour class and will also receive their certificates of completion electronically within 2 business days. Students who miss a 10-hour class for which they registered may be allowed to reschedule within a 6-month period, subject to availability and subject to an additional $50 make-up fee. Portions of a 10-hour class may not be rescheduled.

I am very happy with the 5 CEU live class on “Residents’ Rights” and “Individual Service Plans”. The content was very meaningful. The instructor (Barbara) brought the information to life with interaction and her own experiences. I will attend many CareerSmart courses in the future. Thanks.

A live class on Laws and Regulations was well worth the time spent. This is in addition to the free CEU’s earned by attending the class. Very informative. Very educational.

CareerSmart does a great job with a session of training: very professional, informative, and flexible. They encourage discussion and input. They really invest in presenting a well-done event of training. Having a presenter AND a CareerSmart host at the entire session – makes for a well-moderated event. Thanks.
