Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE) Administrators in California are required to complete 40 hours of continuing education (CEUs) every 2 years in order to renew their Administrator Certificates. At least 20 of the 40 hours must be completed through Live Classroom instruction; the other 20 hours can be completed online, or you can choose to do all 40 hours as Live Classroom training.
However, CCLD has set forth a statewide waiver with PIN 20-28-CCLD that approves vendors to “live stream” Live Classroom CEUs during the current State of Emergency and also allows Certified Administrators to complete all 40 hours of continuing education online. For your convenience during shelter in place orders, CareerSmart® is offering “Live Classroom” CEUs via Live Webinar instruction so that you may complete your 40 hours of continuing education from home or anywhere you have internet access.
All CareerSmart® classes are pre-approved by the California Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, Administrator Certification Section, (Vendor #2000386-740-2). You can take all 40 hours by completing our four separate tracks listed below, to meet your total 40-hour requirement, or by combining 20 live webinar hours with our 20-hour online bundle. When selecting your live webinar courses, please remember to select tracks that include topics needed in order to fulfill the designated topic requirements mentioned below. It is your responsibility to ensure you are taking the right courses.
California law requires 8 of the 40 renewal hours be on Dementia and 4 of the hours be on Laws and Regulations Updates. In addition, if it was not included in an Administrator’s initial certification training or taken in another renewal cycle, renewal CEUs must include 1 hour of LGBT Sensitivity.
Certificates of completion for live webinar CEU classes will be delivered electronically within 3 business days unless otherwise noted. Students may attend only a portion of the live webinar in one day; however, they will only receive a certificate for the topic/sessions they attend in full, as evidenced by their “sign-in” and as observed by the instructor and auditor. Even if only attending a portion of the class, students must pay in full for the entire 10-hour class and will also receive their certificates of completion electronically within 3 business days.
Students with late log-ins or early log-outs of more than 15 minutes for any topic will not receive credit for that topic. Course credit will only be provided for course topics attended in full; there are no exceptions. Live webinars will be monitored and audited throughout their full duration. Please visit our FAQ page for more information and troubleshooting tips for our Live Webinar Classes. For questions or inquiries related to refunds, please review our Refund Policy.
