Description
This course provides an overview of behaviors associated with dementia, with a focus on those associated with Alzheimer’s type dementia. Course objectives include: determine common causes of behaviors in persons with dementia; describe most prevalent behaviors associated with persons with dementia; identify theories of behavior management; define person-centered care as it relates to caring for persons with dementia; and identify approaches to use when assisting a person with dementia during a challenging behavior episode. Course is approved for 1.0 CEU/contact hour to California Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly (RCFE) Administrators and Nurses (all states). Must pass final quiz with 80% or more; may re-take as often as needed. Course will be updated or discontinued on or before July 31, 2023.
