Elder Abuse and Reporting – State Mandated Videos (California Required) – 1.0 Hour

(Caregiver Training)

$32.00

Description

This course contains three videos on elder abuse and reporting.  These videos are required viewing for individuals working with seniors or residents of long term care facilities in the state of California.  The videos include:

1) “Your Legal Duty, Reporting Elder and Dependent Adult Abuse Parts 1 and 2”, published by the State of California Department of Justice, and

2) “The Financial Abuse of Seniors”, published by the California Attorney General’s Office Crime and Violence Prevention Center

These videos are intended to serve as a supplement to other online training CareerSmart offers on elder and dependent adult abuse and are intended to contribute towards compliance with state-required training on this topic.  Individuals considered to be mandated reporters are required by law to review these videos.

In addition to the videos, this course also contains some state required forms for reference to assist individuals with reporting cases of suspected elder or dependent adult abuse, including the SOC341 Report of Suspected Elder Abuse form.

By the end of this course learners will be able to: describe the different forms of elder and dependent adult abuse; define what it means to be a mandated reporter; identify common signs and symptoms of abuse; and determine the appropriate forms and methods for reporting suspected abuse in California.

This course is appropriate for 1.0 hour of staff training or professional development credit for persons working in long term care. It is NOT approved for continuing education credits for licensed professionals.
