The purpose of this course is to increase the awareness of healthcare professionals regarding medical errors. Learners will achieve the following objectives: describe the current societal and professional perspectives on medical errors; review the definition of medical error and the potential types of medical errors that can occur; discuss the consequences of medical errors on patients, professionals, and society; and apply error-reduction techniques to current practice.

Course is approved for 2.0 CE/Contact Hours for Certified Nurse Assistants (CNA) in California. Must pass final quiz with 80% or more; may re-take as often as needed.
