This course provides an advanced overview of Skin Infections in the Long Term Care Setting. By the end of this course, learners will be able to: explain the unique factors that lead to the prevalence of skin infections in long-term care facility clients; describe the normal anatomy of the skin; identify conditions that are common in long-term care clients that predispose them to skin infections; identify signs and symptoms of the most common skin infections in long-term care facility clients; explain the consequences of skin infections for long term care facility clients, healthcare workers, and the general population; and identify resources and tools to help prevent the spread of skin infections in long-term care facilities.

Course is approved for 4.5 CE/Contact Hours to the following professions:

  • Nurses (RN, LVN, LPN) (all states)
  • Critical Care RN (CCRN): meets the criteria for CCRN Synergy Continuing Education
    Recognition Point(s) (CERPS) in Category A
  • Certified Case Managers (CCM)
  • Certified Rehabilitation Counselors (CRC)
  • Social Workers (NASW)

Must pass final quiz with 80% or more; may re-take as often as needed. Course will be updated or discontinued on or before July 31, 2027.
