This course provides an overview of wandering and safety for persons with dementia. By the end of this course learners will be able to: define wandering as it relates to persons with dementia; explain why wandering occurs; describe risk factors associated with wandering; identify best practices for responding to a wandering incident; identify other safety risks for persons with dementia; and identify safety measures that can be implemented to mitigate common safety risks.

Course is approved for 1.0 CE/Contact Hour for Certified Nurse Assistants (CNA) in California. Must pass final quiz with 80% or more; may re-take as often as needed.
