Description
This course provides an overview of wandering and safety for persons with dementia. By the end of this course learners will be able to: 1) define wandering as it relates to persons with dementia, 2) explain why wandering occurs, 3) describe risk factors associated with wandering, 4) identify best practices for responding to a wandering incident, 5) identify other safety risks for persons with dementia, and 6) identify safety measures that can be implemented to mitigate common safety risks. Approved for 1.0 CEU/contact hr for Nurses (all states) and California Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly (RCFE) Administrators. Learners must pass final quiz with 80% or more; may re-take as often as needed. Course will be updated or discontinued on or before July 31, 2023.
This course is approved for Dementia under the following Core of Knowledge: Managing Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias.
