Certified RCFE Administrators in California are required to complete 40 hours of continuing education (CE) every 2 years.
- 8 hours must be related to Dementia care.
- 4 hours must be on Laws & Regulations.
- 1 hour must be on LGBT, if not previously completed

RCFE CE / CEU packages for residential care facilities for the elderly administrators enable the learner to easily complete the state-required topics and also some elective ones. Topics offered for RCFE continuing education for administrators, either in a package, or available for individual purchase for RCFE Administrators training and CE continuing education include dementia care, medication management, bloodborne pathogens, infection control, trauma informed care, person-centered care, resident rights, abuse reporting, behavioral management, LGBTQ training, cultural sensitivity, and fall prevention, and many more.
Continuing Education /CE Needs: For California RCFE Administrators, license renewal requirements are 40 hours every two years; a maximum of 20 of the 40 hours can be completed as self-paced training (online modules); the other 20 hours must be completed as live training (CareerSmart® does not provide live training hours); of the 40 hours, 8 hours must be on the topic of dementia, 4 hours must be on the topic of Laws and Regulations, and 1 hour must be on the topic of LGBT sensitivity if not completed in a prior renewal.
Accreditation Agencies: For California RCFE / Assisted Living Administrators, the California Department of Social Services/Community Care Licensing Administrator Certification Services (CDSS/CCLD/ACS) is the accrediting agency.
