DESCRIPTION

This course provides an overview and instruction on how to assist persons with dementia with their activities of daily living, commonly referred to as ADLs. By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Define activities of daily living (ADLs).
  • List six categories or types of ADLs.
  • Identify challenges that residents with dementia face that can hinder or prevent them from performing ADLs.
  • Identify strategies to overcome challenges in assisting residents with ADLs.
  • Identify and incorporate resident preferences into daily care activities in order to improve outcomes.

Approved for 1.0 CE/contact hour for:

  • California RCFE Administrators

Learners must pass final quiz with 80% or more; may re-take as often as needed.

This course is approved for Dementia under the following Core of Knowledge: Managing Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias.
