By the end of this course, the learner will be able to:
- Discuss the most common types of medication errors, their prevalence, and their impact on patient safety.
- Understand the root causes of medication errors, including system-based and human factors, and how these contribute to the occurrence of medication errors.
- Identify and classify medication errors based on their nature and severity, including prescribing, dispensing, administration, and monitoring errors.
- Describe effective strategies and best practices for preventing medication errors and enhancing medication safety.
