DESCRIPTION
This is a basic course in pain management designed to benefit non-medical caregivers who will be or are assisting residents with medications. By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
- Define pain and distinguish the differences between acute and chronic pain.
- Recognize common signs and symptoms of pain in older adults.
- Discuss the various types of drugs used for chronic pain management and problems associated with pain medications in older adults.
- Review guidelines and best practices for safe assistance of pain medications for older adults.
This course is approved for 1.0 CE/Contact Hour for:
- California RCFE Administrators
Must pass final quiz with 80% or more; may re-take as often as needed.
