DESCRIPTION

Objectives of this course include:

  • Define intimate partner violence and the different forms of intimate partner violence.
  • Identify the four basic risk factors, based on the social-ecological model, for increased likelihood of intimate partner violence.
  • Identify some of the early warning signs of intimate partner violence in initial clinical presentation.
  • Describe tools and strategies for screening patients for possible intimate partner violence.
  • Recognize the responsibilities and ethical considerations for mandated reporters related to assessment, documentation and reporting of suspected intimate partner violence.
  • Identify some of the barriers to addressing intimate partner violence.
  • Recognize other consequences associated with intimate partner violence.

Course is approved for 4.5 CE/Contact Hours for the following professions:

  • Nurses (RN, LVN, LPN) (all states)
  • Certified Case Managers (CCM)
  • Certified Rehabilitation Specialists (CRC)
  • Social Workers (NASW)

Must pass final quiz with 80% or more; may retake as often as needed. Course will be updated or discontinued on or before July 31st, 2027.
