DESCRIPTION
This course provides an overview of behaviors associated with dementia, with a focus on those associated with Alzheimer’s type dementia. By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
- Determine common causes of behaviors in persons with dementia.
- Describe the most prevalent behaviors associated with persons with dementia.
- Identify theories of behavior management.
- Define person-centered care as it relates to caring for persons with dementia.
- Identify approaches to use when assisting a person with dementia during a challenging behavior episode.
This course is approved for 1.0 CE/Contact Hour for:
- California RCFE Administrators
- California Nurses (RN, LVN, LPN) (CA BRN)
Must pass final quiz with 80% or more; may re-take as often as needed.
This course is approved for Dementia under the following Core of Knowledge: Managing Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias.
