This course provides an overview of behaviors associated with dementia, with a focus on those associated with Alzheimer’s type dementia. Course objectives include: determine common causes of behaviors in persons with dementia; describe most prevalent behaviors associated with persons with dementia; identify theories of behavior management; define person-centered care as it relates to caring for persons with dementia; and identify approaches to use when assisting a person with dementia during a challenging behavior episode.

Course is approved for 1.0 CEs/Contact Hour for Certified Nurse Assistants (CNA) in California. Must pass final quiz with 80% or more; may re-take as often as needed.
