DESCRIPTION

This course provides an overview of wandering and safety for persons with dementia. By the end of this course learners will be able to:

  • Define wandering as it relates to persons with dementia
  • Explain why wandering occurs
  • Describe risk factors associated with wandering
  • Identify best practices for responding to a wandering incident
  • Identify other safety risks for persons with dementia
  • Identify safety measures that can be implemented to mitigate common safety risks.

Course is approved for 1.0 CE/Contact Hour to the following professions:

  • Nurses (RN, LVN, LPN) (all states)
  • Certified Case Managers (CCM)
  • Certified Rehabilitation Counselors (CRC)
  • Social Workers (NASW)

Learners must pass final quiz with 80% or more; may re-take as often as needed. Course will be updated or discontinued on or before July 31, 2027.
