DESCRIPTION
This course covers age-related changes that occur in the physiology of older adults and how these changes can greatly impact the nutritional needs of those living in a long-term care facility. By taking this course, learners will be able to achieve the following objectives:
- Recognize the physiological, psychological, and environmental factors that can influence the nutritional status of older adults living in long-term care facilities.
- Identify nutritional complications that are commonly associated with older adults living in long-term care facilities.
- Describe how nutrition therapy can be applied to improve the nutritional status of older adults living in long-term care facilities.
- List appropriate techniques to improve the nutritional status of older adults living in long-term care facilities.
- Identify techniques that apply compassion, empathy and cultural sensitivity to nutritional interventions for older adults living in long-term care facilities.
This course is approved for 2.0 CE/Contact Hours for the following professionals:
- Nurses (RN, LVN, LPN) (all states)
- Certified
Case Managers (CCM)
To receive credit, participant must pass the final exam with a score of 80% or more (exam may be retaken as often as needed). Course will be updated or discontinued on or before July 31, 2027.
