DESCRIPTION
This course provides an overview of vaccinations in children and adults and addresses some of the controversy surrounding vaccinations. It is appropriate not only for healthcare workers and social service professionals, but also for patients, parents, and members of the public interested in learning more about this issue. By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
- Describe how vaccines provide protection from diseases
- Analyze concerns about vaccination safety and efficacy in order to offer education to patients or clients
- Identify vaccination schedules for children, adults, and special populations
- List possible side effects and contraindications associated with vaccinations.
Approved for 2.0 CE/Contact Hours for the following professions:
- Nurses (RN, LVN, LPN) (all states)
- Advanced Practice RN (APRN): This course includes 2.0 pharmacotherapeutic contact hours
- Critical Care RN (CCRN): meets the criteria for CCRN Synergy Continuing Education Recognition Point(s) (CERPS) in Category A
- Certified Case Managers (CCM)
- Certified Rehabilitation Counselors (CRC)
Must pass final quiz with 80% or more; may re-take as often as needed. Course will be updated or discontinued on or before July 31, 2027.
