DESCRIPTION

This course provides an advanced overview of the Hospice Model of Care. It is appropriate for healthcare workers, social service professionals, and other professionals who may interface with hospice, as well as for patients, families, and others who are interested in learning more about hospice services and philosophies.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, the learner will be able to:

  • Describe the philosophy of Hospice Care.
  • Identify five core members of the Hospice team and explain each role.
  • Explain three components of Hospice Care.
  • Define eligibility criteria for admission to Hospice Care.
  • Analyze some of the ethical implications of end of life care faced by healthcare professionals.

Continuing Education Credits

This course is approved for 4.5 CE/Contact Hours for the following professions:

  • Nurses (RN, LVN, LPN) (all states)
    • Critical Care RN (CCRN): meets the criteria for CCRN Synergy Continuing Education Recognition Point(s) (CERPS) in Category B
  • Certified Case Managers (CCM)
  • Certified Rehabilitation Counselors (CRC)
  • Social Workers (NASW)

This course is also approved for 4.5 ethics hours for Nurses, CCM, and CRC.

Course Details

To receive 4.5 contact hours of continuing education credit, learners must pass the final quiz with 80% or more; the final quiz may be re-taken as often as needed.
