DESCRIPTION

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, the learner will be able to:

  • Describe the history of tobacco.
  • Identify the epidemiology of tobacco use.
  • Recognize how nicotine creates dependence.
  • Characterize the patient populations with greater prevalence of nicotine dependence.
  • Explain the diagnosis, treatment options, and typical outcomes following treatment for nicotine dependence.

Continuing Education Credits

This course is approved for 4.5 CE/Contact Hours for the following professions:

  • Nurses (RN, LVN, LPN) (all states)
    • Advanced Practice RN (APRN): This course includes 0.75 pharmacotherapeutic contact hours
    • Critical Care RN (CCRN): meets the criteria for CCRN Synergy Continuing Education Recognition Point(s) (CERPS) in Category B
  • Certified Case Managers (CCM)
  • Certified Rehabilitation Counselors (CRC)
  • Social Workers (NASW)

Course Details

To receive 4.5 contact hours of continuing education credit, learners must pass the final quiz with 80% or more; the final quiz may be re-taken as often as needed.
