DESCRIPTION
This course covers age-related changes that occur in the physiology of older adults and how these changes can greatly impact the nutritional needs of those living in a long-term care facility.
Course Objectives
By the end of this course, the learner will be able to:
- Recognize the physiological, psychological, and environmental factors that can influence the nutritional status of older adults living in long-term care facilities.
- Identify nutritional complications that are commonly associated with older adults living in long-term care facilities.
- Describe how nutrition therapy can be applied to improve the nutritional status of older adults living in long-term care facilities.
- List appropriate techniques to improve the nutritional status of older adults living in long-term care facilities.
- Identify techniques that apply compassion, empathy and cultural sensitivity to nutritional interventions for older adults living in long-term care facilities.
