Advance Care Planning in Long Term Care (RCFE and RN) – 1.0 CE/Contact Hours

This course provides an overview of advance care planning.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, the learner will be able to:

• Identify and describe the potential barriers for people in planning for their future in both matters of personal assets and healthcare decision making.
• Identify communication techniques to help facilitate future care planning discussions with patients and their family members.
• Define the purpose and process for executing advance directives and identify the resources and tools available to assist patients in facilitating this process.

Continuing Education Credits

This course is approved for 1.0 CE/Contact Hour for:

• California RCFE Administrators
• California Nurses (RN, LVN, LPN) (CA BRN)

Course Details

Learners must pass the final quiz with 80% or more; the final quiz may be re-taken as often as needed.

In accordance with Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations, continuing education credits for California RCFE Administrators cannot exceed a total of ten (10) hours per calendar day—whether earned through in-class or interactive online formats. Coursework completed beyond the 10-hour per day limit will not be applied toward renewal requirements nor accepted by California Department of Social Services (CDSS), Administrator Certification Section (ACS).
