This anatomy and physiology of the integumentary system course explores the integumentary system, including the structure and function of the skin, hair, nails, and glands as well as their respective role in protection and homeostasis.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, the learner will be able to:

  • Identify the major components of the integumentary system and their functions.
  • Explain the physiological processes of skin regeneration, thermoregulation, and sensory perception.
  • Recognize the role of the integumentary system in protecting against environmental and microbial threats.
  • Examine how the integumentary system ages.
