Course Objectives

By the end of this course, the learner will be able to:

  • Define combative behavior in the context of caring for persons with dementia.
  • Implement the “5 Whys” to understand the reason for the combative behavior in persons with dementia.
  • Identify at least three intervention strategies effective at minimizing, managing, and preventing combative behavior in persons with dementia.

  • Nurses (RN, LVN, LPN) (all states)
    • Critical Care RN (CCRN): meets the criteria for CCRN Synergy Continuing Education Recognition Point(s) (CERPS) in Category B

Course Details

To receive 2.0 contact hours of continuing education credit, learners must pass the final quiz with 80% or more; the final quiz may be re-taken as often as needed.
