DESCRIPTION
Course Objectives
By the end of this course, the learner will be able to:
- Define ethics & ethical considerations unique to healthcare.
- Describe the four prima facie principles of healthcare ethics.
- Discuss additional concepts important to healthcare ethics.
- Examine ethical concepts related to the current healthcare climate.
- Examine ethical concepts related to classic ethics scenarios.
- Review some of the professional codes of conduct or ethics for healthcare professionals such as nurse, case managers, social worker, rehabilitation counselors, and disability management specialists.
Continuing Education Credits
This course is approved for 2.5 CE/Contact Hours for the following professions:
- Nurses (RN, LVN, LPN) (all states)
- Critical Care RN (CCRN): meets the criteria for CCRN Synergy Continuing Education Recognition Point(s) (CERPS) in Category B
- Certified Case Managers (CCM)
- Certified Rehabilitation Counselors (CRC)
- Social Workers (NASW)
- CA Workers’ Compensation Claims Adjusters (WC CA)
Course Details
To receive 2.5 contact hours of continuing education credit, learners must pass the final quiz with 80% or more; the final quiz may be re-taken as often as needed.
