DESCRIPTION
This course fulfills the requirement for one (1) hour of Category A contact hour pertaining to statutes and rules that govern the practice of nursing in Ohio. The course includes content from the Ohio Nurse Practice Act (Ohio Revised Code 4723) and Ohio Administrative Rules (Chapters 4723-1 through 4723-27), which have been adopted by the Ohio Board of Nursing.
Course Objectives
By the end of this course, the learner will be able to:
- Describe the legislative purpose of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act and at least two functions of the Ohio Board of Nursing.
- Discuss the standards relating to competent nursing practice in Ohio.
- Explain the Decision-Making Model to guide scope of practice in Ohio.
- Discuss nursing standards that promote patient safety in Ohio.
- Define and compare the standards for registered nurses and licensed practical nurses when applying the nursing process in Ohio.
Continuing Education Credits
This course is approved for 1.0 CE/Contact Hour for the following professions:
- Nurses (RN, LVN, LPN) (all states)
Course Details
This course must be viewed in its entirety before advancing to the final exam. To receive 1.0 contact hours of continuing education credit, learners must pass the final quiz with 80% or more; the final quiz may be re-taken as often as needed. Must complete course evaluation prior to receiving access to Certificate of Completion.
