DESCRIPTION
Course Objectives
By the end of this course, the learner will be able to:
- Explain the definition of a private duty aide.
- Explain regulatory requirements related to private duty aides in residential facilities and documentation needed to demonstrate compliance with regulations.
- Describe differences between private duty aides and volunteers, as well as the distinction between private duty aides who are Certified Nurse Assistants or Certified Home Health Aides.
- List various risks and benefits associated with the utilization of private duty aides.

- California RCFE Administrators
- California Nurses (RN, LVN, LPN) (CA BRN)
Course Details
Learners must pass the final quiz with 80% or more; the final quiz may be re-taken as often as needed.
This course is approved for Laws and Regulations under the following Core of Knowledge: Laws, Regulations, Policies, and Procedural Standards Impacting RCFE.

In accordance with Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations, continuing education credits for California RCFE Administrators cannot exceed a total of ten (10) hours per calendar day—whether earned through in-class or interactive online formats. Coursework completed beyond the 10-hour per day limit will not be applied toward renewal requirements nor accepted by California Department of Social Services (CDSS), Administrator Certification Section (ACS).
