Course Objectives

By the end of this course, the learner will be able to:

  • Distinguish between emergencies that impact the resident or client and those that affect the facility as a whole.
  • List common emergencies impacting older adults.
  • Describe when and how 9-1-1 should be called.
  • Identify safety measures the facility can have in place to prevent accidents and emergencies.
  • Identify ways in which the facility can prepare for an emergency.

Continuing Education Credits

This course is approved for 1.0 CE/Contact Hour for:

  • California RCFE Administrators
  • California Nurses (RN, LVN, LPN) (CA BRN)

Course Details

Learners must pass the final quiz with 80% or more; the final quiz may be re-taken as often as needed.

In accordance with Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations, continuing education credits for California RCFE Administrators cannot exceed a total of ten (10) hours per calendar day—whether earned through in-class or interactive online formats. Coursework completed beyond the 10-hour per day limit will not be applied toward renewal requirements nor accepted by California Department of Social Services (CDSS), Administrator Certification Section (ACS).
