This course provides an advanced overview of Skin Infections in the Long Term Care Setting.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, the learner will be able to:

  • Explain the unique factors that lead to the prevalence of skin infections in long term care facility clients.
  • Describe the normal anatomy of the skin.
  • Recognize conditions that are common in long term care clients that predispose them to skin infections.
  • Identify signs and symptoms of the most common skin infections in long term care facility clients.
  • Discuss the consequences of skin infections for long term care facility clients, healthcare workers, and the general population.
  • Recall resources and tools to help prevent the spread of skin infections in long term care facilities.
