DESCRIPTION
Course Objectives
By the end of this course, the learner will be able to:
- Describe the purpose and structure of SBAR as a standardized approach for improving clarity and consistency in communication.
- Apply SBAR to clinical and managerial situations, including daily shift handoff and risk-mitigation scenarios.
- Describe and demonstrate closed-loop communication to confirm accuracy and prevent misunderstandings in team interactions.
- Identify common communication errors and how SBAR and closed-loop communication improve collaboration and patient safety.
Continuing Education Credits
Course is approved for 1.0 CE/Contact Hour to the following professions:
- Nurses (RN, LVN, LPN) (all states)
- Certified Case Managers (CCM)
- Certified Rehabilitation Counselors (CRC)
Course Details
To receive 1.0 contact hours of continuing education credit, learners must pass the final quiz with 80% or more; the final quiz may be re-taken as often as needed.
