DESCRIPTION
This course provides an overview of wandering and safety for persons with dementia. By the end of this course learners will be able to:
- Define wandering as it relates to persons with dementia.
- Explain why wandering occurs.
- Describe risk factors associated with wandering.
- Identify best practices for responding to a wandering incident.
- Identify other safety risks for persons with dementia.
- Identify safety measures that can be implemented to mitigate common safety risks.
This program has been approved for Continuing Education for 1.25 CE/Contact Hours by NAB/NCERS—Approval # 20270128-1.25-A117791-DL. This course applies to the following professions:
- Nursing Home Administrators (all states)
- Residential Care/Assisted Living Administrators (most states)
Learners must pass final quiz with 80% or more; may re-take as often as needed.
