Description
This is a basic course designed to benefit those who will be or are assisting older residents with medication management, specifically understanding how antibiotics work and promoting infection control. By the end of this course, the learner will be able to: (1) Identify the most common infectious agents and their main characteristics: bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites. (2) Recognized signs and symptoms of infection in older adults and some of the common infections. (3) Describe how antibiotics work, appropriate usage, dosage, storage and complications. (4) Identify the challenges associated with infection control in assisted living and tips for infection prevention and precaution. Learners must pass final quiz with 80% or more; may re-take as often as needed.
