This course covers age-related changes that occur in the physiology of older adults and how these changes can greatly impact the nutritional needs of those living in a long-term care facility. By taking this course, learners will be able to achieve the following objectives: Recognize the physiological, psychological, and environmental factors that can influence the nutritional status of older adults living in long-term care facilities, Identify nutritional complications that are commonly associated with older adults living in long-term care facilities, Describe how nutrition therapy can be applied to improve the nutritional status of older adults living in long-term care facilities, List appropriate techniques to improve the nutritional status of older adults living in long-term care facilities, and Identify techniques that apply compassion, empathy and cultural sensitivity to nutritional interventions for older adults living in long-term care facilities.

This course is intended to contribute to caregiver and/or staff training in the categories of Physical Limitations and Needs of Elderly. Learners must pass final quiz with 80% or more; may re-take as often as needed.
