Description
This is a basic course in pain management designed to benefit non-medical caregivers who will be or are assisting residents with medications. By the end of this course, you will be able to: (1) Define pain and distinguish the differences between acute and chronic pain. (2) Recognize common signs and symptoms of pain in older adults. (3) Discuss the various types of drugs used for chronic pain management and problems associated with pain medications in older adults. (4) Review guidelines and best practices for safe assistance of pain medications for older adults. Learners must pass final quiz with 80% or more; may re-take as often as needed.
