Description

By the end of this course, learners will be able to: describe the basic understanding of what is diabetes and factors affecting management of diabetes in older adults; identify the main goals of diabetic medication management; describe the various methods of insulin administration, different types of insulin, and the rationale behind sliding scale prescription; identify at least two types of oral medication for management of diabetes; and recognize the limitations and restrictions in caring for persons with diabetes living in a licensed assisted living or other residential care facility.

Course is approved for 1.0 CE/Contact Hour for Certified Nurse Assistants (CNA) in California. Must pass final quiz with 80% or more; may re-take as often as needed.
