Description
This course provides an advanced overview of Respiratory Infections in the Long Term Care Setting. By the end of this course, learners will be able to: identify some unique factors which may lead to the prevalence of respiratory infections in long term care facilities; describe the basic anatomy of the respiratory system; describe common diseases of the respiratory tract and predispose for respiratory infections; recognize common signs and symptoms of respiratory infections in long term care settings; recognize common types of respiratory infections in the long term care setting; identify consequences specific to respiratory infections to residents, healthcare workers, and society in general; and list some resources and tools to prevent the spread of respiratory infections in long term care facilities.
Course is approved for 4.5 CE/Contact Hours to the following professions:
- Nurses (RN, LVN, LPN) (all states)
- Critical Care RN (CCRN): meets the criteria for CCRN Synergy Continuing Education
Recognition Point(s) (CERPS) in Category B - Certified Case Managers (CCM)
- Certified Rehab Counselors (CRC)
Must pass final quiz with 80% or more; may re-take as often as needed. Course will be updated or discontinued on or before March 31, 2024.
